Kareena Kapoor says she is not trying to copy anyone in her forthcoming film Heroine, the first trailer of which has raised inevitable comparisons with Vidya Balan's look in The Dirty Picture.
In a way both films hit at the same subject- the fate, rise and fall of an actress. While Vidya scored a block- buster with The Dirty Picture, Kareena and Heroine Diector Madhur Bhandarkar Insist no comparisons must be made. "I am not getting into any body's shoes. I am very comfortable in my own and I would say that no one will get into mine either," Kareena Said. She also said that Heroine has nothing similar the Dirty Picture, and that it is "unfair" to compare the two. Pointing out the difference between the two films, Bhandarkar said, "I like the Dirty Picture. The film was about the rise of an item girl in the 1980s. Our film is more modern in its approach. The two films are very different and you cannot compare them. There have been so many films based on underworld. Also so many cop films have come like 'Singham' and 'Dabangg', but on one compares them. Then why are people comparing these two films," he added.
Heroine is not inspired by any one person, says Mahdur Bhandarkar, who is known for his realistic films like Fashion and Page3. the director was talking at the trailer launch of his film and was have played pivotal roles in the film. Produced by UTV Motion Pictures, The film is about the ups and downs in the life of movie star.
"Heroine is not inspaired by any one person. The movie is about Mahi (Kareena) and herjourney towards stardom and the ups and downs that come with it, " he said
"I am not saying is not inspired by Hollywood and Bollywood, there is inspiration. I would say that 70 percent of it is realistic and 30 percent fiction. it is diffuclt to pin point one person on whom the movie is based, " he said.
Research seems to be the basis for all of Madhur Bhandarkar's film and the director spoke to many people for Heroine as well. " i have interacted with many people. I wanted to portray today's film industry and its rise and fall," he said. The film has been creating a buzz for a while now. Initially, after Kareena refused the role, Aishwariya Rai Bachchan had been a part of pregnancy and kareena stepped in. the director admitted that he altered the script when Kareena came on board. Kareena Said that she had her hands full the first time she was approached but was glad when she got the role back.
"I had no reservations at the time I was approached but I was shooting for Bodyguard, Agent Vinod, RA.One and Talaash and I wanted to shoot this film at at stretch. I am happy that they came back to em," Kareena revealed.The film is all set to hit theatres September 21. (IANS)
